It's that time of year - when the mailbox is filled with letters from this and that and that company or bank announcing "changes to our service agreement",
"Agreement"? Hardly. "Proclamation" or "edict" would ge more apt.
The idea that these are negotiated "agreements" is a far reach, particularly when the original "agreement" between a customer and a company may have occurred years and and nearly every one of the original terms has been replaced (except the term that says that the company can unilaterally amend the terms. Well, they do say you can avoid the new terms by cancelling the service - Hah!)
It would be interesting to consider a new law that would limit the extent of these kinds of imposed changed terms.
